Dowry or Sinsod (สินสอด)
The dowry or Sinsod, will be put on bowl (Khan) that is the same size and type of Khan Mak. Sinsod is treasures for engagement as agreed with the lady already, such as ring, money, gold necklace, gold bracelet, etc. The dowry or Sinsod will be wrapped with red or gold or silver fabric, and put in the gold plated bowl or tray. In the dowry bowl may be putting extra money with the belief that this dowry is to be growing or expanding in the future. Sometimes they also put the gold leaf, silver leaf, harvest leaf, love leaves, glass leaves. Also put beans, rice, sesame in pretty small sachets and then use silk fabrics covered. Perhaps they separate Sinsod bowl and gold or silve leaves in another bowl.
Wedding Ceremony and Counting Sinsod (พิธีสู่ขอและนับสินสอด)
After the groom’s Khanmak procession come in to the bride’s house and arrange all Khanmaks and Sinsod bowl already, the groom's parents or a senior of groom will begin to propose the marriage. When the bride’s parents or seniors agree to give their daughter, the groom’s seniors will open the wrapped fabric which has money inside to show as dowry. Then the bride’s parents will count the money. According to ancient tradition, they will always put it slightly exceeded than the agreed Sinsod with the belief that the money is growing. To count money that parents will ejaculate out that "germinates money" that is the tip that in the couple lives will have money to grow.
After counting the Sinsod, the parents of both parties will help to scatter flowers, nuts, sesame, rice, gold leaf, silver leaf, which are in the Khanmak bowl on dowry.
Then the bride mother will be wrapped the Sinsod back to fabric and bear up on the shoulder as traditionally and walk in to the inner room of the house. When bearing, there is a tip to speak out that “This pack really hard, the money would germinate much more
Wearing engagement Ring (พิธีสวมแหวนหมั้น)
Ceremony wearing an engagement ring will make after finished the counting the Sinsod. To wear engagement rings need to be done at the defined auspicious time. The groom will wear an engagement ring to the bride, and then the bride will also wear a ring to groom in exchange.
The ceremony of wearing an engagement ring is very popular. This process is to cut off the Khanmak process and procession, but only bring Sinsod, wearing ring and then celebrated in the lineage. However this depends on the agreement of both parties. After wearing the ring, there will be taking photos all together for memory.
